TB-COVID-19 Work Group

About the TB-COVID-19 Workgroup

Purpose

The workgroup grew out of a series of NTCA/NSTC-DTBE online meetings starting in August 2020 to gain insight into TB and COVID-19 comorbidities in the U.S. settings by exploring establishment a TB-COVID 19 registry and surveillance.

First, the workgroup reached out to TB programs and clinical experts to gather information on the programmatic and clinical impacts of COVID on TB programs and patients. A programmatic impact survey was conducted in collaboration with the NTCA Survey Committee. Presentations were given at the Virtual National TB Conference in July 2021.

The workgroup has created a detailed data capture and analytic plan. A letter of invitation to state and territorial TB controllers to participate in collecting surveillance data on TB-COVID coinfection was sent November 4, 2021.

The workgroup co-chairs are Shu-Hua Wang, MD, MPH, PharmD; Neela Goswami, MD, MPH; and Scott Nabity, MD, MPH. For more about the workgroup co-chairs, read here.
