Webinar: Bearing Down on Unique TB Challenges

Notes: Register now! TB case management is a multi-faceted approach that requires a proactive approach to identifying barriers and implementing actions to overcome those barriers. This case presentation will show unique case management challenges both culturally and logistically that involved creative case management.
Faculty include presenter Donna Bean, BSN, Itinerant Public Health Nurse, State of Alaska; and facilitator Patricia Woods, MSN, RN, Nurse Consultant, New Jersey Department of Health. By the end of this session, participants will be able to: (1) discuss the importance of providing culturally competent care to achieve best outcomes; (2) explain how to determine an infectious period to assist with large contact investigations; and (3) explain new tools that can be used for diagnosis and treatment of TB. 1.2 continuing education credits will be offered to eligible participants who complete the pre-test, attend the webinar, and complete the post-test. The webinar is free to NTCA members and $20 for nonmembers.

Course: Focus on TB Infection

Course: Clinical TB Intensive

Date: July 15-17, 2019
Location: Houston, Texas
Notes: This course is intended for physicians, nurse practitioners, and registered nurses with direct experience in the management of patients, with, or at risk of TB. This is not an introductory course. It is required that nursing participants have a minimum of one-year experience in TB case management and attend the TB Nurse Case Management course prior to attending TB Intensive. Course: Clinical Pediatric TB Intensive

Date: July 18, 2019

Notes: This course is designed for physicians, nurses and public health staff who are actively engaged in the identification, case management, and treatment of pediatric and adolescent patients with tuberculosis infection or disease. Conference: Pacific Island TB Controllers (PITCA) Conference

Date: September 9-12, 2019
Location: Koror, Palau
Notes: This 4-day conference will convene tuberculosis experts from throughout the Pacific Islands and United States mainland to engage in learning and discussion on the management and control of TB and provide training and networking opportunities for TB professionals in the Pacific Island region.
